They honeymooned in a hotel in Dublin. The Black and Tans came in to search the hotel.<\/div>\n
They would have shot father but he could produce evidence that he had served in the British Army in the Great War<\/div>\n
I like the way my father – Bill Mooney – is seated comfortably while Mother is standing! Mother’s hem is a story!<\/div>\n
Mother lived in lodgings in London when she was working in the Civil Service.<\/div>\n
Mother’s friend, who also lived in the lodgings, did not want her to marry Father. She didn’t want to lose her friend.<\/div>\n
Mother didn’t want to go back and collect her clothes from the lodgings – she couldn’t face her friend, who was a bit dominating by the sound of it,<\/div>\n
 so Mother had to buy new clothes to get married at short notice and looks like there wasn’t a lot of choice with size.<\/div>\n
They were too big and she had to hem them herself. She wasn’t good at hemming, poor Mother<\/div>\n
