The first generation is John and Margaret McCann and their children. Any name in blue with an underline is a link to that person’s page. The second generation then, is their grandchildren, or our parents (Vincent McCann and Rita McCann etc.) Third Gen will be their Grandkids, and so on. The pages are also listed down the side.<\/h6>\n

The Catholic Church in Ballyhaise. When Tony, Pat and myself went up for the summers, I can remember going to mass there – in those days, all the women sat on one side, and the men on the other. The women had to have their head covered. This is where I can remember being at the funeral of Grandpa Patrick in 1952. The church is just a few yards down from the old Schoolhouse where the O’Rourkes lived back in the 50’s. <\/p>\n

Patrick McCann – born 1855. He was a sergeant in the RIC which explains why the different children were born in different counties, as he was moved around the country. After his retirement, he worked in Crumlin Road Jail as a warder and then as a farmer in Cavan.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
