Early Life

Pat was born in 1941 while we were living in Blackheath Park (No. 17) and would have been about 12 when we moved to Hollybrook Grove (See Vincent McCann).

This is the only photo of Pat I have ever seen, where she is not laughing! She was about 5 years old when it was taken and obviously took life very seriously.

Marriage

While working as a hostess, she met and fell in love with John Gingell, a pilot in Aer Lingus. Pat visited my ship when we arrived in Bristol, some time in 1963. She told me she was going out with a guy from Bristol, who was a former Royal Navy Pilot. He lived at the time in a small cottage on Strand Road Sutton. I met him there when I came home on leave, and we hit it off pretty well. They got married in 1964 (one of the few family weddings I (Derek) made it to.)

They lived in Kilbarrack in a nice little bungalow where Tanya was born. Later they moved to Dublin Road. When Terry and myself got married, Pat came along highly pregnant. A short time later Paul arrived.Tanya and Paul 001

During the mid seventies, they bought a  house on Shanganagh Terrace in Killiney. John passed away on August 28 1987. A few years later, Pat moved to a town house in Blackrock.
